Yes, I have won the lottery - Twice. And no, I do not play lotto the way 99% of the population plays. Perhaps equally important is the fact that very few months go by without me having at least a small win of some kind.

My larger wins include: $1,374,196, $1,008,742, $76,500, $19,612, $15,569, $15,334, $12,565, $10,658, $7,751 and $5,554 - and we will tell you where you can see proof later.

But first, a dose of realism. These wins have been over a period of 6 years - so obviously we do not win every week. Anyone who promises you the secret to winning lotto every week is peddling snake oil - no ifs, no buts. What IS possible is a regular small win of $20-$100, plus a lotto strategy technique that significantly boosts your chances of winning the big one. So what do we do that is different?

ORGANIZE The Lotto Numbers

We ORGANIZE the lotto numbers - rather than try to PICK the numbers. This is the Quantum Leap that has dramatically "improved our luck." Despite over a 100 hundred years of proof that no-one can PICK the 6 winning lotto numbers, most players continue with an approach that has never worked!

Making sure you have all 6 winning lotto numbers is incredibly simple - Play ALL of the lottery numbers! Not rocket science, but it will get more complicated. At its simplest, playing the following multiple entries in any 49-number, Pick-6 lottery GUARANTEES you have ALL the winning lotto numbers somewhere in your overall entry:

Match Your Outlay to the Lotto Jackpot

Lottery Systems

Since the cost of playing lotto differs around the world, this has to be a generic overview. Remember that 10-number lotto entry? Well, at an individual level, we need a "cut-price" way to play. A "full" Lotto system 10 requires you to play 210 games (that is how many 6-number combinations there are in 10 numbers).

For 5 sets of 10 numbers, that is 1,050 games in total - within the price range of 20-30 people pooling their efforts for a massive jackpot.

However, well outside the individual play budget we recommend ($20-$50 per week). But - if you view your 10 numbers as 5 pairs, any 3 pairs from 5 pairs can be totally covered in just 10 games, or 50 games overall. Odd and Even Lotto Numbers

Odd and Even lotto number patterns are interesting. Did you know that a lotto result that has 3-odd + 3-even numbers is around THIRTY times more likely to come out than a lottery result that has 6 numbers all even or all odd?

As an example, let's take 1,000 results from the New Jersey 6-49 Lottery. 334 games ended with 3-odd numbers + 3 even numbers - a result you can expect, on average 1 week in 3. Two Odd + Four Even numbers accounted for 224 of the 1,000 New Jersey lotto results, and Four Odd + Two Even numbers accounted for 233 of the 1,000 results.

These three result types accounted for 791 of the 1,000 games - almost an 8 weeks out of 10 occurrence!

In contrast, only 10 games had all odd numbers, and only 10 games had all even numbers. Out of 1,000 games!

It is this kind of "Lotto Intelligence" that keeps the games you play in line with the kind of results of results that occur most regularly.

Consecutive Lottery Numbers

Again, Consecutive Lottery Numbers are interestingly. For 6-ball lotto games you should never be playing 6 numbers that include more than 3 consecutive numbers.

Taking our 1,000 results from the New Jersey 6-49 Lottery again, we see the following: 512 games had NO Consecutive numbers, and 388 had only two consecutive numbers. Between them, the two result-types accounted for 900 of the 1,000 games - or, a result you could expect, on average, 9 weeks out of 10!

This of course is for a 6-number result. If we were playing 5 sets of 10, I would suggest allowing up to 3 consecutive numbers in any 10, but no more.

Lottery Number Sectors

In choosing our lotto numbers, we divide the total lotto numbers into 3 sectors. For a 6-from-49 lottery, this is 1 to 16, 17 to 32, and 33-49. For most weeks, the 6 winning numbers will include between 1 and 3 numbers from each sector. Now, with our 10 number system we can ensure each set of 10 numbers includes 3 from each sector (with 4 from one sector). This practice of matching the games we play to the most commonly occurring result is what we call "Lottery Profiling™." First, determine from the lottery history the result that occurs most frequently - then mirror that in your lottery entry.

For our New Jersey 6-49 example, 669 of the 1,000 fit this "Profile." This is equivalent to 2 weeks out of every 3.

Conclusion

There are "smart" ways to play lotto, and there are "dumb" ways to play. Objectives of Poker and How to Play Texas Holdem



Poker is probably the most popular of all card games in existence, thanks in part to an exciting format, huge sums of money that is regularly on offer, and the swings and roundabouts that come with a game with an element of luck. Even with an element of luck, playing winning poker takes a good amount of skill and some time to master. This guide will take you through some of the basics poker rules and also more generally, how to play poker.

First of all, let's consider what the objectives of poker are in a game of poker. The objective of most is to win money. To do that, players would need to eithermake it to showdown with the best 5 card hand OR force everyone else out of the hand, thus winning the pot. Most games are played against the same standard ranking of hands however, there are a few variants that use slight variations to this standard. For this article we will focus on Texas Hold'em mainly as it's the most popular game and a good place to start out as a new player.

Texas Hold'em

Texas Hold'em is the party favourite and carries the most traffic, both live and online. It is the game that is featured in most major poker tournaments or televised cash games.

It's known as a community card game for the reason that there are shared cards that are used by all players, when trying to make their best 5 card hand. In short, each player will get two private cards, dealt face down, better known as hole cards. These cards are only seen by the player they are dealt to. Throughout the game there will be a number of betting rounds and 5 community or shared cards that will be dealt. These cards are dealt face up. Players will try to make the best 5 card hand using any combination of the 7 available cards to them (2 private cards and 5 shared cards). This same principle applies across all poker games.

Something that makes the game really unique is that a player doesn't have to have the best hand to win. Imagine you've got ten people and gave them one card each and told them to race up a hill. The person who got up there would be first, automatically winning. If there was a tie, the two players would hold up the card they were given and the highest card would win. Poker is similar in principle. The player who stays in the hand all the way and has the best hand would take down the pot. If there is only one person who makes it up the hill or who stays in the hand, they would be the winner, regardless of the card or hand they held. So if only one made it to the top of the hill, he would win, no matter his hand.

Structure of the Game

Ok, let's look at how the game is actually played. When starting a game, it's normal for each player to be dealt a card. The highest card gets the dealer button or button. The button acts as an indicator as to who is dealt cards first, and also who posts the blinds. The blinds are automatic bets that are made to ensure each pot has some money to play for (or there would be no incentive to play anything but the top hands). The blinds consist of two automatic bets, the small blind, posted by the player to the immediate left of the button, and the big blind, the player two seats to the left of the button. The small blind is usually half of the value of the big blind. Once these bets are posted, all players are dealt 2 cards face down.

Players will now need to decide whether to play the hand or not, starting with the player to the left of the big blind (or 3 left of the dealer button). This would, in large, be down to the two cards the player has been dealt (although there are other factors which I will cover separately). A player has the choice to call, fold or raise. Here are definitions for each action:

Fold- to throw your cards into the muck and take no further part in the hand. By doing so, you lose your stake in the pot.

Call- to match the highest bet made so far. If the highest bet is the big blind, then that must be matched to stay in the hand. If a player raises, all other players will need to 'call the raise' or match it, to stay in the hand.

Raise- this would be a bet that would be more than the big blind and a sign of strength (a good hand). If a player was to raise and all other players folded, he will win the pot by default, regardless of the strength of his hand.

So play moves clockwise around the table until all players have either called, raised or folded.

Once all players have completed this initial betting round, the first three community or shared cards are dealt. These are dealt face up on the table. The first 3 cards dealt in Hold'em are known as 'the flop'. All shared cards that are dealt are known as board cards or referred to as 'the board'. At this stage, players will be trying to assemble their best 5 card hand from the 2 in their hand and the 3 on the board. Some players might already have made their hand and others might need cards, still to come, to make their hand. Either way, with 2 shared cards still to come, players will have a good indication as to the strength of their holding and their chances of hitting one of the cards they may need.

A second betting round now takes place and again players, moving clockwise, have the choice to fold their cards, call or raise. Once this betting round is complete, a fourth community card is dealt face up, otherwise known as 'the turn', 'the turn card' or 'fourth street'. There is then a third betting round with all remaining players and then a fifth and final card (known as 'fifth street' or the 'river card') is dealt to the board, again face up (all shared cards are dealt face up). There is one final found of betting, conducted in the same manner as the previous rounds, and then the showdown.

During each betting round, it is usual for some players to fold their hand, either as the betting is too much for the strength of hand they have, or they fail to hit their cards needed to make a strong hand. At showdown, any player left in the hand would turn over their hole cards to reveal their hand. The best 5 card poker hand wins the pot (which would be a collection of blinds and all bets).

Key additional Points

- If all players fold, leaving one player in the hand, the hand ends there and the remaining player wins the hand.

- If a player is all in (.i.e. has bet all his available chips, he would only be able to win the same amount that had been wagered from each player in the hand). If players who had more than the all-in player continued to bet, a side pot would be formed.

- If two players have the same hand at showdown, the winner is determined by the best kicker. For instance if player 1 has the hand A-A-2-3-4 and player 2 had A-A-2-3-8, both players would have a pair of aces but player 2 would have the next highest card, the 8 (compared with player 1 who's next highest is a 4). Ace is the highest kicker possible.

Omaha Poker Rules and Game Structure



The rules of Omaha Poker are not too dis-similar from that of Texas Hold'em. For starters they are both from the same family of card games, better known as community card games. The principle difference between Omaha Poker and Hold'em lies with the number of hole cards that each player receives. The betting rounds and order of play are all the same as in Hold'em.

Omaha Poker Overview and basics

As in most poker games, the aim of the game is to make the best five card hand, from the combination of hole cards and community cards on offer. In Hold'em, players would do this using any combination of their two hole cards and the five that are dealt to the board. In Omaha, each player is dealt four hole cards instead of two and must use two of their hole cards in combination with three from the board.

For those used to playing Hold'em, the additional two hole cards gives players a greater chance of hitting a big hand, and so devalues the standard ranking of hands. In short this means you would likely need a stronger hand in Omaha to take down the pot (as players will be hitting bigger hands more frequently). If you are making the transition from Hold'em, you need to take this into account when determining your starting hand requirements.

Game Play & betting Structure

Before getting started, you will need a deck of cards, a dealer button and items to bet with. Shuffle the deck and deal everyone a card. The highest card takes the dealer button. You will need to agree a blind structure for your game, which can be incremental or static. For the purposes of this guide, let's assume the blinds are 0.50 - 1.

Before any cards are dealt, the player to the immediate left of the button should post the small blind of 0.50 and the player to his left, the big blind of 1. These are automatic bets that are made, regardless of whether players choose to play their hand, and ensures there is incentive in every pot. The button will move clockwise round the table, ensuring every player gets a chance to post the blinds.

The initial deal is four cards, face down, to each player. Then moving round the table clockwise (starting from the player to the left of the big blind), players would decide whether to play the hand or not. As in Hold'em, each player has the chance to:

Fold - choose not to play the hand. By folding, they exit the hand at this point and play no further part in the hand.

Call - a player would be said to 'call' when they match the largest bet made. If no bet has been made, they would match the value of the big blind.

Raise - bet more than the big blind, an amount which other players would need to at least match to stay in the hand.

Once each player has made their decision on whether to play or not, the first three cards, known as 'the flop', are dealt to the board. These are shared cards used by all players and are dealt face up. At this point, players will be able to use their best two hole cards with the three on the board, to make the best possible five card hand.

There is then another round of betting, and again players must decide based on the cards available, whether to continue in the hand. Once all players have acted, there is a fourth community card dealt, better known as 'the turn' or 'fourth street'. This is then followed by a third round of betting.

A fifth and final community card is then dealt to the board, known as 'the river' or 'fifth street'. At this stage players will know whether they have made their hand using any two hole cards and three on the board to make the best possible five card hand. There is a final round of betting, followed by showdown.

At showdown, players turn over their cards and the best hand wins the pot.

My First Time Visiting Thunder Valley Casino



When I first visited Thunder Valley Casino I thought I was lost. I drove past the buildings in Sacramento and into wide open space. This was odd to me because I didn't know Sacramento had too many wide open spaces. And even though I felt like I was way out it really didn't take but about 30 minutes from our hotel. As California casino lovers I'm sure you realize that's not very far for some of these casinos.

So there I was in what I felt to be the middle of nowhere when I saw it in the distance. I was actually quite stunned because it was massive! I thought it'd be small considering the surrounding areas grassy fields, but believe me it's not. It's like 6 stories!

My wife's eyes light up like Christmas. She's the true lover of gambling. I just love the casinos and the nightlife, but when she saw that place, her jaw dropped. It stayed that way when we entered the gambling for too. The ceilings were seriously, and I mean seriously vaulted.

There's this great modern bar in the middle here she and I really enjoyed sitting back and talking. For those who know my wife they know that sitting back and talking at a casino is not normally her thing. The bar had this great geometric dim lighting and was located in the middle of the gaming floor on the west end.

And I was not disappointed on the other end either. There an equally as cool but totally different bar. More of a sport bar but encased and surrounded with fountains and multi colored lights. We enjoyed ourselves there a bit as well.

If you frequent Native American Casinos in California you are used to seeing a lot of the same slot machines and video poker. Luckily the gaming floor is massive and there are tons of slots. I was really surprised to see games I had never played before. Sure enough later I saw them starting to come into my own local Native American casino, but it was there that I got to try them first.

I would have really enjoyed the chance to stay at the hotel. I went there at night so I didn't really get a chance to see the huge pool and luxury that the spa and hotel are had to offer. I'm heading down there again this Labor Day weekend and I am going to take a look. I'll be sure to get some pictures.

The beers were cheap. Of course I come back to beer but isn't that what a casino is for...? Drinking and Gambling! They had a lot of micro brews, free drinks and the bars were stacked with all sorts of alcohol. Alcohol I've never heard of and I was a bartender. Granted it was only for two years, but I was a bartender none the less.

We were only planning on staying for 3-4 hours due to our limited schedule but we had so much fun we moved some things around and stayed for 6! We had a blast and like I said we will be heading back down there this weekend.

How I've Minimised the Risk With Gambling



I've spent a lot of my life losing money gambling on football with British bookmakers. I chased the 'easy money' dream which clearly doesn't exist and it's fair to say that over the years it has cost me a few quid (that's a bit of an understatement).

I do still believe that money can be made from gambling, but you have to be a particular type of person. You need the knowledge of the sport you are betting on, a decent staking plan, and patience and discipline.

Now patience and discipline are the two areas that I have consistently failed with. It's frustrating because I know where my weakness lies, but I just don't seem to be able to do anything about it.

Around 10 years or so back the betting landscape in the UK changed with the introduction of betting exchanges. Betting exchanges allow you to both place bets and take bets from other people. Using betting exchanges is also a bit like trading shares, where you can buy (place a bet) at 3/1, and you can sell (lay a bet) at 2/1, allowing a guaranteed return.

What they also do is allow you to trade an event, say a football match, before it has started. The sheer weight of money for a particular football team leads to price movements. Therefore if you can predict those price movements you can back a team (buy) at a higher price, before you lay (sell) that same team for a shorter price, all before a ball has been kicked.

This is where an impatient and poorly disciplined gambler like me comes into the equation. As I can't seem able to cope with the discipline side of betting, I have decided to take the betting side of things out of the equation.

Using my knowledge of the sport and of the gambling markets I am now currently trying to earn (not win) about 1-2% of my betting bank on live football matches by taking advantage of price movements before the game starts.

I usually use the outright winner market, but have also been using the goals spread market of Over/Under 2.5 goals (3 goals or more, or less than 3 goals), where there is obviously only two outcomes, as opposed to the win/draw/lose scenario of the outright market.

It is tricky and not as simple as it sounds as markets don't always react in the way you expect them too.

The best part about it for me though is that I am not really gambling. Yes, if the price moves the wrong way in my pre match trade, I could lose money, but only a smallish amount that would be in proportion to what I will make when the trade goes the right way.

So far after three weeks using the technique I am up by about 15% of my starting betting bank. It is probably a bit below where I would like to be, but I've got to bear in mind that I am only learning the technique and that this is a long term project, so as long as I'm making money every week - no matter how small - I should be happy.

Texas Hold Em Tips - When Is It a Good Idea to Go All In?



In Texas Holdem, making good decisions is vital to getting deep in poker tournaments. This article covers the poker basics of when it is a good time to go all-in throughout the different stages of a poker tournament. Understanding basic poker tournament strategy helps you arrive at executing correct tournament decisions.

Timing, in poker tournaments, is practically half the game. Possessing the mindset of when to make moves and when to fold is a crucial part of tourney success. That being said, let's examine scenarios where it is a good idea to go all in, and then some situations in a poker tournament where you should wait it out. Before we do that, the first poker tournament strategy you want to erase from your mind is the concept that when you are down to 10 big blinds (BB) or less, you need to shove with certain strong hands. This poker basics theory is a poor poker tournament strategy and essentially nothing more than an excuse players use to try to double up. Living on hope is not the way to win a poker tournament.

The 10 Big blind theory in poker has inherent strategic flaws, mostly because a majority of tournament poker players embrace the concept that if they get an opportunity to knock out a player they will take the chance. Therefore, you are essentially involving yourself in an unnecessary race with the hope of gathering much-needed chips. In other words, an all-in induces action! Therefore unless you have a really strong hand, than you should NOT go all-in regardless of how many big blinds you have left. Believe it or not, the real poker basics strategy is; 'it is better to blind out than to take an unnecessary shot in the dark.' (Remember, a chip and a chair is a real story!)

Now with 10 BB remaining, typically you have a minimum 30 hands left before you are blinded out. Therefore, with 10 BBs, you should never become anxious. The poker basics formula to calculate how many hands you have remaining before being blinded out at a 9 person table is typically three to three and one half times the number of big blinds remaining. So, if you have 30 BBs, you will be able to see about 100 hands before you blind out assuming you fold every hand. The hands remaining formula is a basic poker tournament lesson taught in my poker tournament strategies newsletter, (see link below).

Now that we have covered how many poker hands you have remaining, let's find out which hands in your tournament are critically a good time to go all in. In the case where you hold a top ten hand in late position, and there are more than two limpers, and you have 10 BB left, this is strategically, a good time to shove all in. The limpers likely will not call you preflop. On the other hand, if you are willing to take the risk and limp, you could get more value by waiting to see the flop. Especially if your opponents are loose, and tend to limp with warm hands. However, my strategy is to take down a limped pot preflop, as this will give you more chips to make a play later.

If you have a warm hand such as KQ suited or less, and you are in late position with no action before you, this is a good tournament strategy to shove and get rid of the button and blinds. You must remember that in addition to the number of hands you have remaining, your position is very important as well. In a poker tournament, players will tend to tighten up as they get deeper, and you can take advantage of this as a short stack, to get your chips in. However, you should only do it in position, with no players in the pot before you. This eliminates the possibility that some players like to limp in a tournament with monster hands, hoping to catch (or, trap) the shortstacks making a move.

Late stage tournament poker strategy; you want to play a tighter variety of hands and use position to make an all in move. In the middle stages of a tourney, when players are holding onto their stacks, your strategy should change. For example, limping with a monster hand to see a flop before you make a move. In the case where the flop is a really dry flop (no draws, no high cards, no connectors, etc.), there is never a need to go all in, make a strategic bet and you are likely to take down the pot uncontested. On the other hand, if you limp and the flop is a really draw heavy flop, you want to proceed cautiously before going all in. Maybe put out a big enough bet to see if someone is drawing. Usually, two-thirds to three-quarters bet is sufficient. If you get called and the draw does not come on the turn, exercise your poker strategy and consider this may be the time to go all in.

Typically, players are less likely to make an all in call on the turn, in middle and late stages of a tourney. Therefore, your strategy to get rid of drawing poker hands is best on the turn and not on the flop. In almost every case possible, it is rarely a good idea to get all your chips in the pot on the flop or even pre-flop. This again is a poor strategy and usually induces action by drawing hands that figure they have 2 cards to come and their odds are better to hit their draw.

Now for a look at early stage poker tournament strategy. There is almost never a reason you should have all your chips in the pot in the first 4 or 5 levels of any poker tournament. It is mathematically impossible to get blinded out in any poker tournament in the first 5 levels. In other words, you can not get blinded out, so why get all your chips in? The early stage of a poker tournament is best to slowly build up your stack with the intention of doubling your stack by the first break. However, the first 4 or 5 levels of any poker tournament is where most of the loose aggressive donkeys play! So, make it your strategy that unless you have the top 4 nuts on the flop, turn or river, you should avoid going all in.

Why the Original Basic Strategy Makes You Lose Money

In a box are 13 coloured balls, 9 reds and 4 greens.

Imagine:
